Life is a Cabaret! So bring out your inner Christina and join us in the spotlight!
In our Cabaret/Modern Burlesque dance course you will be taught stylish and sexy choreography inspired by famous cabaret venues from all over the world. From the Moulin Rouge in Paris to the Tropicana in Cuba, you will learn a variety of dance styles that will transform you into a true Cabaret Showgirl.You will be taught a number of sassy routines, delving into both the old and the new, with classic moves from famous musicals (such as the incredible Bob Fosse pieces from Cabaret and All That Jazz), as well as venturing into modern styles made famous by more recent Hollywood productions such as Chicago and Burlesque.

You will even learn to incorporate props into the choreography of some routines such as chairs, feather boas, top hats and canes. Your instructor will teach you all the tricks of the trade!

At the end of every term you will have the opportunity to perform the routines you have learnt in a real-life cabaret show (this is entirely optional), with one massive performance at the end of the year on the big theatre stage! Get those feathers, glitter and sequins ready!

A standard 12 week term costs $180, which works out to $15 per class. All students in ongoing courses pay a $30 annual registration fee each year.[/accordion-item][accordion-item title=”I’ve never danced or performed before – will I be able to do this?”]Of course! The beginner class is designed for complete ADULT beginners who have either never done Cabaret or even dancing before, or are coming back after an extended break from the style. If you are more experienced consider joining our Intermediate/Advanced course.[/accordion-item][accordion-item title=”Can I trial a class first?”]Your first Lady Velvet Cabaret trial class is $15 so you can try before you enrol. Any subsequent trials (including trials of other styles) will be billed at the $25 Casual rate. If you are looking to attend on a more casual basis, you should consider our Multiple Class Pass.[/accordion-item][accordion-item title=”The term has already started, can I still join?”]Yes! We take enrolments at any time of year (check out our timetable here). Our instructor is completely qualified and will teach you the basics at various paces so you can choose one that suits you. It is never too late to learn, and this is an ADULT class so all ages above 18 welcomed![/accordion-item][accordion-item title=”How long do classes go for?”]Each class runs for 1 hour long each week.[/accordion-item][accordion-item title=”What should I wear/bring to each class?”]Comfortable clothing or activewear will be fine, such as leggings, shorts and a form-fitting top. You should be able to move comfortably in your clothing. Most routines will require heels. Enrol in two courses with us and you’ll receive 5% off your class fees. Enrol in three courses and you’ll receive 7% off your class fees. Enrol in four courses and you’ll receive 8% off plus your fifth course will be free![/accordion-item][accordion-item title=”What if I want to attend casually?”]If you cannot commit to attending regularly, you should consider our Multiple Class Pass. Once your $20 Annual Registration fee has been paid, you can purchase either a 5 Class Pass for $100 or a 10 Class Pass for $180. Your Class Pass will allow you to enter any of our ongoing courses (not 6 week or one day workshops), provided they are not full.
